OPEN WATER DIVER

   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This programme is the first step to becoming a qualified Scuba Diver.
The course consists of 5 x 2 hour evening classroom sessions, over five weeks, each followed by a 2 hour pool session in the same week, to put into practice what you have learnt.
With the course comes a PADI Open Water Manual Crew Pack, which contains all the information you will need in easily set-out sections.  Prior to each class session you will be expected to read through the relevant chapter and complete a short quiz.
During the classroom session you will see a video, re-capping on the information you have read.  The lesson will then explain in more detail what you have learnt.  It’s a really easy way of learning!
Then, on the following Thursday evening you will get a chance to practice the skills you have learnt about, in the swimming pool.
Successful completion of this part of the course, which includes a swim physical and a written exam, will take you to Referral level.
You can then continue with the second part of the course, the four Open Water Dives, with me.  We go, as a group, for a weekend to a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre near Peterborough called Dive In at Gildenburgh Waters.  Here you will complete the four qualifying open water dives and enjoy a very social weekend away.
Or, if you wish, you can take the Referral and complete the course at a PADI Dive Centre abroad.
ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As the name suggests, once you have had some experience of diving as an Open Water Diver, you may wish to expand on your knowledge and diving skills and become an Advanced Open Water Diver.

Successful completion of this course will not only enhance your Diving CV but will also qualify you to go to further depths, and enjoy more diving experiences.

The course is of a similar design to the Open Water Diver, using a manual, and involves completion of five different dives and skills, 1 deep, 1 navigation and 3 optional dives.

You could become a Junior Open Water Diver.

Once qualified, you will be able to dive with any adult who holds an Open Water Diver certificate.

At the age of 15 you can upgrade to a PADI Open Water Diver without any further exams.

[ PADI recommends that students under 15 be accompanied by a family member who is also taking the course, to give encouragement and aid their learning, but this is optional]
