‘X’ Dive Association

   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In 2002 a collection of like-minded divers decided to get together and form a diving group, mainly for diving, but also for social gatherings, and so the ‘X’ Dive Association was born.
Most of our members are divers, but you don’t have to be, partners are also welcome to join.  The association is open to all, whether you are PADI trained or not.  Our only criteria is that you want to socialize and dive!
Like most associations we have a few guidelines, which are designed with the smooth running of the association in mind.
Membership is a £5 joining fee, and £5 per month (paid by standing order), per person.
We meet on the last Friday of the month at the Walton Coastguard Social Club, to socialize mainly, and to organise activities for the group.  Whether it be a trip to the Dive Show in London, a beach bar-b-que, or a Dive Holiday abroad!
If you are interested in joining us, contact me via my e-mail
'X' Dive - 2004 Diary
Our year of events started in March with a very successful trip to the resort of Sharm el Sheikh in the Red Sea - sploshness abound!  Very good diving, local sight-seeing, debauchery, boozing, riding camels and ribbing the locals!  Everyone agreed an excellent holiday.
At the end of July, Gavin and I upheld the good name and showed our presence on the Dawn Louise, a one week live-aboard, wreck diving in the waters around the Isle of Wight.
In August we had a Bar-be-Que, held at our meeting place, the Walton Coastguard Social Club.
The Dive Show at NEC Birmingham was our next excursion in October, many bargains had by all.
Also during the year a variety of diving trips to Stoney Cove and Gildenburgh, both for training and social.   Our local dive-site Alton Waters still remains suspended for diving, but has not yet been closed (see News Update for recent info).
Myself and another of the more hardy breed amongst us Andy (Desperate Dan) Smith are off to Oban in Scotland in December, just to test out the water (and Whisky of course). A long weekend of diving in the extreme!
Our final accolade for the year will by our Christmas Dinner, again to be held at Highfields.
